8-bit Theater was a webcomic by Brian Clevinger (hi) that ran from 2001 to 2009. It was about four murder hobos pretending to be heroes of destiny who were foretold to save the world from a great evil, but it turns out they're the great evil.

Actually, that's not canonical, just implied over and over. What the hell, it's 2021, you can't stop me, IT'S CANONICAL NOW.

Anyway. 8BT was a hit of early 2000s webcomicry, so it was about video games. Superficially, it was about Final Fantasy released for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1987. But, slightly deeper than superficially, it was about video games as a whole, tabletop gaming, nerd stuff generally, film, history, philosophy, politics, a lot of cartoonish ultra-violence, and thousands of art crimes that made it impossible to ever print. Until now!

Readers have asked about a print edition for year and years. What I usually tell them is that I don't want to get sued by the brilliant and attractive lawyers at Square-Enix because that distracts from the fact that I rather idiotically produced every single page at 72dpi. For those of you who aren't in publishing: generally speaking you want at least 300dpi for print. So, even if we could print them we can't print them.

But what we can do is make a complete script book compendium (no sprites do not sue) containing freshly typed scripts for all 1,224 comics and the Epilogue! But that's not all. I'm fixing typos and grammar, messing up new typos and grammer, producing all-new commentary, including behind-the-scenes tidbits, adding insights into my process, and tucking extra jokes into the panel descriptions!

In short it's the ultimate 8-bit Theater print collection. And this is YOUR ONLY CHANCE TO GET IT. We're limiting the print run to whatever you folks buy. I mean, we'll make a few extra to account for potential shipping mishaps because that's gonna happen to someone. BUT IF YOU DON'T GET ONE OF THESE RIGHT NOW THEN YOU NEVER WILL! Okay, maybe in another 20 years we'll do this again but lol if you wanna take the bet we'll have enough of a civilization left to buy things online at that point.

Wow, bleak!

Two physical versions are available, Standard and Deluxe. Both books are oversized hard covers. HOW OVERSIZED? SON, THIS IS 8.5in WIDE by 13in TALL! And they will have the same content, but the Deluxe Edition will get you more stuff and fancier fixin's including a case into which the fancier fixin's and the book will go. We're still figuring out if this will be a slipcase or like a fold out thing or what. But it'll be swanky! The books will look something like this...
